Opportunity Description

Job Purpose

The innovation Focal persons will be responsible for providing support in the planning, implementation, and monitoring of key project activities in close coordination with the KRCS Innovation Unit, different stakeholders, and project partners.

The project focal persons will work closely with the KRCS Innovation Unit in strengthening Innovation programs under the FSPI-I.O.M.E 001 project in Mombasa  County.

Key Responsibilities

  • In liaison with the Innovation Officer in Mombasa county, oversee overall implementation, monitoring, and coordination of activities at the county level.
  • Coordinate and engage with youth/members of the innovation hub with the activities planned under the hub
  • Ensure Red Cross representation and visibility during the rolling out of the project and throughout its implementation period.
  • Support in developing strategies for strengthening collaborative partnerships and networks with stakeholders, and other players on the ground to ensure the implementation of programs that enhance effectiveness.
  • Track best practices and maintain a breadth of knowledge about current trends, emerging issues and opportunities in the innovation space that will improve service delivery
  • Facilitate trainings for members/beneficiaries of the innovation hub through acquired trainings and skills under the project
  • Document pre and post-training assessments, and develop timely progress
  • Maintain necessary communication to facilitate effective coordination for project delivery
  • Support in development and documentation of the best practices, reports and learnings from the project implementation

Key Requirements.

  • Have a certificate/diploma/degree in either social sciences, IT-related courses, technical courses or any related field.
  • Basic Digital skills/ literacy.
  • Have strong team working and relationship building skills
  • Are able to provide timely, well written and analytical reports as required.
  • Are self-motivated and confident with a passion for humanitarian work and keen to learn as well as share knowledge
  • Are a creative, open-minded and compassionate person able to interact with youth and community members
  • Have excellent written, spoken and analytical skills in English and Kiswahili
  • Are proficient in using Microsoft Office – Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Have facilitation and training skills
  • Able to commit to not less than 6 months’ engagement in the program.
  • Prior volunteerism and knowledge of Kenya Red Cross Society’s work will be an added advantage.
  • Should be a resident of Mombasa and active KRCS Mombasa Branch Volunteer.
